“…if you know your history
Then you would know where you’re coming from
Then you wouldn’t have to ask me
Who the hell I think I am”
from Buffalo Soldier by Bob Marley and the Wailers
from the 1984 album Legend
In 1984 I was leaving school and heading to college to study A Level Political History and attempt to make a decision about what I wanted to do with my life. I was interested in the past and people, and I loved to write. I wanted to be an archaeologist but became a librarian because I couldn’t spell archaeologist.
I didn’t remain a librarian and somewhere along the way I stopped writing. I also decided I would really like to be a pirate when I grew up.
I haven’t become a pirate and I haven’t really grown up either, and I still can’t spell archaeologist.
I am still interested in the past and people and I am also a taphophile, and I am trying to write. If you put these elements together you kind of get the idea behind this blog.
I would still really like to be a pirate.
So welcome and I hope you enjoy my blog of randomness and rabbit holes.
And the occasional pirate.
